Christian Klaas, CPA, MST
Partner
Christian “Chris” joined the Firm in 2004, having started as an intern. Chris specializes in fiduciary, estate, and individual income taxation, and is responsible for servicing many of our firm’s high net worth families. He also leads the firmwide education initiative.
Chris is a member of the AICPA, IL CPA Society (having served on both the Individual Taxation Committee as well as the Estate, Gift & Trust Tax Committee) and Chicago Estate Planning Council (CEPC). In his free time, he teaches tax and accounting courses at Purdue University Northwest. Chris authored a course on the taxation of decedents, estates, and trusts, and speaks frequently on these topics. He also served on Thomson Reuters GoSystem Tax Customer Advisory Board, advising on their nationally ranked tax software.
A culinary explorer, outside of tax season you will likely find Chris in the kitchen or at the grill experimenting with new flavors and spices. Between his wife, twin daughters (whom he refers to as “the crowd”), and two energetic Weimaraner dogs there’s never a dull moment in his house. Chris has a laundry list of hobbies, but most enjoys amateur woodworking in his garage and vacationing with family and friends.
